Alan Perdue has a long history of serving the citizens of Guilford County.  His service began as a volunteer Jr. Firefighter with the Pinecroft-Sedgefield Fire Department at 16 years of age.  In 1979 he began his 34 year public safety career with Guilford County Emergency Services moving through the ranks whereby he was promoted to the Emergency Services Director in 2003.  After serving 10 years as Director he retired in 2013.  Wanting to continue his service and dedication to the community he was elected Guilford County Commissioner for District 2 in 2014.  He also serves as the Chair of the County’s Mental Health sub-committee and a member of the National Association of Counties (NACo) Technology & Telecommunications Committee.

 

Alan’s public service has not been limited to Guilford County, he was appointed by the Governor and served 12 years on the NC Building Code Council as the NC Fire Services representative, served 6 years as a Commissioner for the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE), served 8 years on the Board of Directors of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) and served as President of the NC Fire Marshal’s Association.


A Husband, Father, Papa & Small Business Owner…

 

In addition to his public service, Alan is a small business owner.  He serves as president of Perdue & Associates Inc. a public safety/leadership Consultant Company and supports his wife Lisa who is president of Silver Gallery International located at Friendly Center in Greensboro.  His unique background and experience provide him a customer focused and common sense approach to continuous self-improvement of county service delivery. A native of Guilford County, Alan graduated from Southern Guilford High School, GTCC with a degree in Fire Protection Technology and John Wesley College with a degree in Management & Ethics.  He is married to Lisa and the father of daughters Brittany Brown and Alexis Perdue and the

Papa to Kennedy and Easton.
